Two learners died following an incident during a Bubble and Color Fun Run at Cauayan South Central School in Isabela on Saturday, October 3, the Department of Education confirmed.

DepEd said the incident happened within the school premises as the activity was being held. Authorities are now conducting a fact-finding investigation to determine what happened and examine the safety measures, equipment used and roles of those involved.

Initial reports said several students were electrocuted while they were in an area covered with bubbles. Authorities are looking into a possible electrical short circuit or grounding, although the exact cause has not yet been established.

At least four students were initially brought to hospitals for medical attention. As of the latest reports, one student remained under observation while another had already been discharged.

The school expressed its condolences to the families of the two learners and said it is cooperating with authorities investigating the incident. It also emphasized its commitment to the safety and welfare of its students.

DepEd and the school have appealed to the public to avoid speculation and the sharing of unverified information, photographs or videos involving the children and their families, citing their right to privacy as the investigation continues.
