More than 52,000 people have been forced to seek shelter in evacuation centers as the combined effects of tropical cyclones Luis, Maymay and Neneng, along with the ongoing southwest monsoon or Habagat, continue to affect parts of the Philippines.

The Office of Civil Defense said Friday that 15,523 families or 52,543 individuals are currently staying in 701 evacuation centers nationwide.

Overall, more than 6.6 million people have been affected by the recent severe weather across several regions, including Metro Manila.

The government has so far provided around P1 billion in assistance to affected communities.

Authorities are also validating 29 reported deaths, while 19 people were injured and three remain missing.

Meanwhile, 2,110 houses have been damaged, including 1,884 partially damaged and 226 totally damaged homes.

The disasters have also caused an estimated P4.8 billion in infrastructure damage and P1.7 billion in agricultural losses, underscoring the widespread impact of the successive weather disturbances and monsoon rains.
