MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education has ordered school safety drills nationwide to prepare students and personnel for possible active attack incidents.
Regional offices will conduct simultaneous drills on Tuesday, August 25, while all schools will be required to hold similar exercises on separate dates.
The drills will focus on preparedness, protective actions, coordinated emergency response and post-incident recovery.
The move is part of DepEd’s broader effort to strengthen school security following recent violent incidents involving students. The department has also directed schools to improve emergency response measures and coordination with law enforcement agencies.
DepEd has emphasized that school safety requires stronger security measures alongside learner protection, mental health support and closer coordination among schools, families and communities.
