CANADA – A part of Yonge Street in Toronto could be co-named BTS Boulevard in honor of the South Korean boy band BTS’ upcoming concerts in the area.
According to a report, the Toronto City Council is anticipated to vote on a plan to co-name the stretch between North York Boulevard and Finch Avenue from August 21 to September 23, 2026.
The proposal coincides with the group’s performances at Rogers Stadium on August 22 and 23 and the yearly Toronto Korean Festival.
Councilor Lily Cheng stated that the proposal aims to honor Korean culture, appeal to BTS fans to the festival, and support businesses in North York’s Koreatown.
Once authorized, the street signs will be financed by a festival sponsor and auctioned afterward to benefit a food bank. The plan also includes lighting the Toronto sign in purple during BTS’ performances.
