CANADA – In order to show support for Canada hosting the FIFA World Cup with the United States and Mexico, the first time in history that three countries are cooperating for the tournament, Grouse Mountain unveils its symbol of national pride with the largest Canadian flag ever made.
Grouse Mountain is known as one of the North Shore Mountains of the Pacific Ranges in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is one of Vancouver’s most visited attractions.
It is reported that the flag is 160 meters wide and 80 meters tall, “spanning approximately two football fields”, weighs 3,000 pounds, and requires immense human effort to install it. This task was undertaken in order to showcase the country’s incredible national pride as the flag is visible from across Metro Vancouver.
Adam Rootman, Senior Director of Marketing of Grouse Mountain Resort, stated that, “This is a moment designed to be seen not just from the mountain, but from across the city, from the sky, and around the world.”
Grouse Mountain added that with the installation, they are also hoping to set a new Guinness World Record as the largest flag unfurled on a mountain.
“Made possible by title sponsor and producer of the flag, Blast Media Print,” said Grouse Mountain in a social media post, “along with support from Destination Vancouver and Destination Canada.”
