Rainy days are here again, says PAGASA
MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday afternoon officially declared the start of the rainy season.
In a statement, PAGASA administrator Vicente Malano said intermittent rains associated with the southwest monsoon or habagat will begin to affect Metro Manila and the western section of the country.
He added that monsoon breaks (or breaks in rainfall events) are still likely and could last for days or weeks.
According to PAGASA, the presence of the frontal system, and the occurrence of severe thunderstorms have brought widespread rains in the last five days in areas under Type I climate and other parts of the country.
A province is considered to have a Type I climate if there is a distinct dry and a wet season; wet from June to November and dry, the rest of the year.
“The southwesterly windflow was also observed in the past few days. “This satisfies the criteria of the start of the rainy season over the western sections of Luzon and (the) Visayas,” the statement read.
La Niña may still affect some parts of the country, which may increase the likelihood of above-normal rainfall conditions in the coming months, added PAGASA.
PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina said that during the rainy season, people could expect rains most likely in the afternoon and evening.
No weather disturbance is expected this week, Badrina added.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the frontal system and the southwesterly surface windflow are causing rains over parts of Luzon, particularly in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga, and Bulacan.
Badrina advised residents of these areas to always bring an umbrella. The rest of Luzon, he said, will have fair weather with isolated rains.

Does it mean that summer has ended already,if it did, then I’m happy because the extreme heat that we’ve experienced these past weeks due to summer is indeed intolerable but you know I’m kinda sad though I prefer rainy season than dry season because of the fact that there are so many people live in the streets or the homeless people because it’s not like they can sleep while getting soaked in rain so I feel sorry for them especially that we used to experience similar situation back then when our house wasn’t renovated yet,the feeling of sleeping soundly but you just had to wake up noticing that you’re cold since your clothes are wet already because the house is already flooded since our house used to have many holes on its roof allowing the rain to enter.. I know exactly how these homeless people feel whenever it rains. So I really hope that God will touch them and provide them a place where they could stay and sleep in comfort , rain or sun. While everyone is happy and frolicking because they can sleep in comfort when it rains at night some people are pretty worried because they don’t have a place to stay and just have to endure the cold night..

Unpredictable weather, Nakakatakot man eh dapat parin natin itong labanan at bigyan lunas. Dati rati na kay ganda pag ganito ang panahon, mainet at tagaktak ang pawis, nakakabahala lang na sa ganitong Buwan ay may ulan na siyang hindi pangkaraniwan para sa sistema nang ating weather.

Yup… That’s what climate change do. Month of May? Rainy season? That’s Too early. It may be good for us now, no sweaty days, no dry farms but this might be the start of a much more destructive disaster. Everyone should be worry about climate change. Brought about by climate change. But it is Helpful for the Farmers for more Productive Harvest and prevent draught thay may affect the plants and crops. I’m Hoping and Praying na hindi po sana magkaroon ng malalakas na bagyo this 2022, tamang ulan lang para makabawi naman ang ating Agricultural Sector. Godbless the Philippines!!!
