MANILA — The Philippine National Oil Company Renewable Corporation (PNOC RC) is working tirelessly to fulfill its mandate of providing a better future for the Filipinos by spearheading the development and growth of renewable energy in the country.

“PNOC RC is mandated to promote and accelerate the development of Renewable Energy in the Philippines,” said Business Development Manager Pamela M. Cea-Borlaza as she introduced the PNOC RC during a conference Wednesday at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

The PNOC RC is the sole government corporation that promotes and develops new renewable energy sources by harnessing the country’s indigenous energy sources such as geothermal, wind, solar, hydro, biomass and ocean energy.

With partnership with the private sector, PNOC RC is now actively developing 365 mega watts of potential renewable energy in the whole archipelago.

Likewise, the PNOC is targeting to commission a new RC project within the next five years or until 2018.

The corporation is under the Department of Energy (DOE).

“We have the DOE as the macro level. They are the one’s integrating the targets and crafts the policies while the PNOC is the micro level that helps the targets to be implemented,” Borlaza said.

On one side, Borlaza said they have developmental function doing pre-developmental activities to prepare the projects and attract private sectors.

“This include feasibility studies, securing permits and licenses, we go to the whole process. We are helping assisting the private sectors to seek LGU supports.” she said. “We are also promoting synergies with the government and corporations. Plus, we are providing services in terms on facilitating on service contract application, issuing permits, and introducing the projects to the LGUs.”
