MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management has released P27.4 billion to fund medical assistance for indigent and financially incapacitated Filipinos nationwide.
The funding will support the Department of Health’s Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients program, or MAIFIP.
Budget Secretary Kim Robert de Leon said the program is intended to help qualified patients cover hospital bills and other medical expenses.
The DBM said the release will allow the DOH to continue providing financial assistance to patients who cannot afford the full cost of their medical care.
