MANILA – The number of Filipinos abroad who recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) rose to 640 as 60 more were added, mostly in the Americas, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported Saturday.
Thirty-eight new confirmed cases were also logged, bringing the overall tally to 2,178.
“Based on the reports received today, most of the confirmed cases among our nationals are found in Europe and the Middle East, most recoveries are reported in the Asia and Pacific, and most number of deaths in the Americas,” it said.
Of the confirmed cases, 388 were registered in the Asia Pacific region, 651 in Europe, 616 in the Middle East/Africa, and 523 in the Americas.
Close to 1,300 are currently undergoing treatment.
As of May 9, DFA said there are 239 recoveries in the Asia Pacific region, 159 in Europe, 48 in the Middle East/Africa, and 194 in the Americas.
Meanwhile, the total fatalities stand at 253 — two from the Asia Pacific region, 78 in Europe, 37 in the Middle East/Africa, and 136 in the Americas.
