MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 147 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as well as 108 new recoveries, bringing the total to 10,610 and 1,842, respectively.
Of the new cases, 123 were in Metro Manila and 24 from other regions. The 10,610 cases reflected on its daily situationer were all confirmed positive via RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) tests.
The DOH also announced eight new deaths, bringing the death toll to 704 as of May 9.
Data from DOH’s Covid-19 tracker showed that 131,786 unique individual tests have so far been done, of which 13,405 turned out positive, 118,085 negatives, and 147 equivocal, and 149 invalids.
Meanwhile, the DOH denied the alleged “cover-ups” on the case tally after reports circulated on social media that it has a “backlog” of 3,000 Covid-19 positive tests not yet officially reported.
“All results from the licensed laboratories around the country are reported to the DOH. All data from these reports are made public in our daily situationer and Covid-19 tracker.
DOH denies any cover-ups circulating online,” it said.
