Distribution of relief aid for victims of floods, landslides in North Cotabato and Bukidnon towns ongoing — DSWD

MANILA — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured on Sunday that the distribution of food packs for the families affected by the landslides and floods in North Cotabato and Bukidnon towns is ongoing as part of the agency’s aid mechanisms.

According to the DSWD, aside from the food packs distribution, they are currently assessing other forms of assistance that can be given to the victims who are currently staying in evacuation centers in the affected areas.

Reports said a state of calamity was declared over the weekend in the town of Arakan, North Cotabato because of landslides caused by intermittent rains for several days.

The overflow of water from Matigol River caused landslides and floods in Barangay Napaliko, where about 30 families immediately sought refuge in evacuation centers.

A state of calamity was also declared in the town of Kibawe in the province of Bukidnon, where eight barangays were reported to be affected by landslides.
