CANADA – Health officials are warning Canadians to prepare for another active cold and flu season, with respiratory viruses expected to put pressure on communities and the health-care system.
As colder weather approaches, experts are urging people to take preventive measures, including staying up to date with recommended vaccinations and avoiding close contact with others when sick.
The seasonal spread of influenza, COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses can lead to increased hospital visits and added pressure on health-care services, particularly among older adults and people with underlying health risks.
Health authorities also continue to emphasize simple precautions such as regular handwashing, improving indoor ventilation and staying home when experiencing respiratory symptoms.
With the new respiratory-virus season approaching, Canadians are being reminded that preparation remains one of the best defenses as flu and other illnesses begin circulating more widely.
