The number of people missing after devastating floods and landslides in areas near the Nepal-China border has climbed past 2,400, as rescue teams continue searching for survivors and those still unaccounted for.

The disaster has left communities overwhelmed by floodwaters and landslides, with roads, bridges and other vital infrastructure damaged or destroyed.

Rescue and relief operations have been complicated by difficult terrain and disrupted access to affected areas, making it harder for authorities to reach isolated communities.

The sharp increase in the missing-person count has intensified concerns over the scale of the disaster, while authorities continue efforts to locate survivors and account for those affected.

The disaster also has implications for Filipinos in the region, with a Filipino doctor previously reported missing following the floods.

As search operations continue, families of those unaccounted for are left waiting for updates amid worsening conditions.

With more than 2,400 people now missing, the race is on to find survivors before time runs out.
