Atin Ito recommences call for July 12 as National West Philippine Sea Victory Day

PHILIPPINES – Civil society coalition Atin Ito recommences its call for the administration to pronounce July 12 as National West Philippine Sea Victory Day as it started the 10th anniversary commemoration of the 2016 arbitral ruling supporting the country.

According to Rafaela David, co-convenor of Atin Ito, the proclamation would uphold the nation’s legal triumph, increase public knowledge, and help future generations in rejecting false information.

Hundreds of Zambales fishermen also engaged in making the Philippine flag’s colors and the phrase “WPS, ATIN ITO!” as part of the celebration and used almost eighty fishing vessels.

Moreover, the Stratbase Institute urged the administration to speed up the innovation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, stating the Philippines must strengthen its protection and national resilience to address challenges in the West Philippine Sea.
