WASHINGTON – The United States and Iran have agreed to cease fire and meet in Qatar on Tuesday to settle their dispute.
A tentative agreement signed on June 17 aimed to end the conflict that began in late February and restore safe shipping. However, the US and Iran have continued exchanging military strikes in recent days.
US officials say that for now, both sides will hold off on military action so that ships can move freely while diplomats try to fix the dispute.
Tensions remain high, though US President Donald Trump recently warned that Iran would face severe consequences if Iranian strikes continue.
