FRANCE – Paris Deputy Mayor Audrey Pulvar garnered attention after accusing the United States and their major utilization of air conditioning, due to the contribution it made to the deadly heat wave across France.
Temperatures exceeded 40°C and is said that more than a thousand individuals died. Pulvar’s remarks came after tourists, reporters, and online content creators condemned Paris for not having air conditioning in every area.
In a long social media post, Pulvar stated that the U.S., as one of the world’s largest greenhouse gas emitters, holds major obligation for the effects of global warming. The high widespread of air-conditioned cities in the United States contributes to the climate catastrophe, while Paris has its attention on reducing its ecological footprint instead of developing air conditioning, which she described as exacerbating the issue.
The French capital’s ecological initiatives, including widening green spaces and promoting eco-friendly agriculture were also one of the things she stated. She highlighted that these environmental initiatives have helped the country, although improvements are still essential. Additionally, Pulvar urged the people to focus on their own environment, rather than criticizing others.
