Canada receives wave of support from locals at World Cup

CANADA – The country’s momentous FIFA World Cup victory drew an unexpected wave of support from from local fans, with players welcoming the recognition with gratitude.
According to reports, Derek Cornelius stated that people kept showing interest in the nation’s team as they ask players for autographs and pictures, which has skyrocketed as the game unfolds on home soil. Canadians also showed enthusiasm through packed stadiums in Toronto and Vancouver.
After starting with a draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina, the country secured its first men’s World Cup win with a dominating 6-0 victory over Qatar in front of more than 50,000 supporters in Vancouver. Liam Millar described this atmosphere as electric, stating the fans have become the “12th man” that gives the team an advantage.
Canada is now into its last Group B match versus Switzerland with first place in the group within reach. A victory or draw will keep the team in Vancouver for the round of 32, giving them the chance to benefit from home support.
