VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Filipino community in British Columbia jointly extended their condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families of victims of the Tumbler Ridge school shooting on Tuesday, February 10.
“In moments like this, words can never fully express the sorrow we feel for the families, friends, and the entire community facing unimaginable loss. We stand with you in grief, in prayer, and in solidarity,” the Pinoy Festival Alliance (PFA) wrote on a post.
Similarly, the Filipino Legacy Society (FLS) expressed its solidarity with the victims’ loved ones.
“We are sending strength, compassion, and solidarity to all who are suffering because of this immeasurable loss,” the group said.
The True North Hinirang Eagles Club (TNHEC) reflected on last year’s Lapu-Lapu tragedy, saying such shared grief experienced by people in Tumbler Ridge is not much of a stranger to the empathetic Filipino community in Canada.
“As the Filipino community continues to mourn the devastating loss from the 2025 Lapu-Lapu Festival tragedy in Vancouver, we stand united in solidarity with the people of Tumbler Ridge during this incredibly difficult time,” the TNHEC said.
“We also express our sincere gratitude to the teachers, school staff, police officers, and first responders whose swift and courageous actions helped save lives,” it added.
