Men urged to take active role in family planning

MANILA – An official of the Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) on Wednesday urged men to also take an active role in family planning to ease off burden from women.
“Undergoing a non-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) is a concrete manifestation of your love and care to your spouses and partners. That is our challenge to Filipino males,” POPCOM chief Dr. Jeepy Perez told reporters.
Compared to bilateral tubal ligation (BTL) procedures that women take, NSV is more convenient, he said.
During the height of the pandemic, the POPCOM has leveled up its efforts on distributing contraceptive pills among women through its regional offices.
It cited that the prolonged quarantine can provoke sexual activities between couples, prompting a surge in the country’s population which is also a government concern.
Perez said pills are currently being used by only 30 percent of Filipinas for family planning.
“As the pandemic gradually abated and health restrictions were slowly lifted, many have resorted to bilateral tubal ligations (BTLs). Filipino men can help ease family planning pressures on their spouses and partners by strongly considering undergoing vasectomies,” Perez added.
Data from POPCOM showed that Filipino women who are into family planning now stand at 8 million.

Good decision.

For me, getting a vasectomy is one of the most important sexual health decisions a person can make to avoid pregnancy. It is time to the men to consider and undergo vasectomies because so often the woman is responsible for birth control. So for me a true gentleman will sacrifice and do anything for her wife.

For me, dapat hinahighlight talaga ito since dati pa right after mag boom ung pandemya here sa Philippines, I won’t include other countries since I don’t have any idea on how they handle their populations. But here in the Philippines, dapat talaga nagbibigay attention dito eh, kasi sobrang hirap ng Pilipinas, and I’am definitely sure na hindi lahat ng pinapanganak during these days ay may magandang kinabukasan.

When it comes to family planning, it’s not just the woman who should take pills or who would control. It takes two to tango so both of them should contribute effort. Before starting a family they should be given the opportunity to understand the real essence and advantages of family planning. We’ve been in a very challenging situation since Pandemic hit our country, it’s not always about the happiness, the contentment and the pleasure but also the future their children will face. So it’s just a good news that men urged to take active role in family planning, evey wife needs the support of their husband and by this they can also lessen the difficulties their wife and their family could experience.
