Liza del Rosario is one step closer to Philippine Bowling Open title

Del Rosario totalled 1679 during the eight-game series, falling one spot behind Jermaine Seah from Singapore, who had 1700. They were followed by Malaysian Gilliam Lim and young Filipina Bea Hernandez, who totalled 1616 each. Iliya Syamim and Charlene Lim from Singapore will join them as they face Lara Posadas-Wong, Dyan Coronacion, and 2017 World Cup champion Krizziah Tabora in the next phase of the competition where the top three will advance.

Del Rosario also anticipates the rest of the competition, saying, “They have (all) been playing well. In the finals, it’s really anybody’s ballgame. The stakes and pressure are higher in the finals, the adjustments harder. You have to show up with your best on that particular day.”

For the men’s division, Singaporean Sam Cooley fights to defend his title as he’s joined by Basil Ng for the top spot with 1843 points each. Filipino Kenneth Chua and Jaris Goh of Singapore as well have also advanced to the finals.

The Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championship is organized by the Philippine Bowling Federation. The event is supported by Pagcor, Café Puro, Prima Pasta, Boysen Paints, the Linden Suites and Philippine Sports Commission, serving as a test run for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games from November 30 to December 11, where Del Rosario is planning to retire.
