Toronto police say a 19-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with a fatal weekend stabbing in the city’s east end.

Police say two men got into an altercation while riding a city bus on Sunday and started to fight after getting off the bus at about 3:30 a.m.

They say during the fight, one of the men was stabbed multiple times.

The victim, identified as 29-year-old Matthew Lidster of Toronto, died of his injuries in hospital.

Police say the accused surrendered to police on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court Wednesday.

Police say they are also looking to speak with two women who were on the bus at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
