JBC opens applications for 96 court judges in 4 regions

MANILA — The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has opened the application for 96 vacancies for judges in various courts in the country.

Supreme Court (SC) Clerk of Court and JBC Ex Officio Secretary Edgar Aricheta, in an announcement, said those interested for judgeship positions in four judicial regions including 27 in Region 9; 29 in Region 10; 16 in Region 11 and 24 in Region 12 should submit their respective applications on or before April 24.

Among the requirements include the results of reports of medical examinations; Income Tax Returns or Certificates of Compensation Payment/Tax Withheld; Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN); performance ratings from 2015 to 2017 for those in government; notarized personal data sheet; law school records; certificate of admission to the Bar; certificate of employment; service records for those who have been employed in government; samples of written works like decisions, treatises, opinions and articles; and clearances from the Ombudsman, Office of the Bar Confidant, Integrated Bar of the Philippines, National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police.

“The date of actual receipt by the JBC of the applications and complete documentary requirements shall be deemed as the date of filing,” the announcement reads.

“Qualifications of applicants shall be reckoned from the said deadline,” it added.

Meanwhile, the JBC announced that there are 30 applicants seeking to be named to vacant positions as presiding judges.

They are Ma. Veronica Abutan, Dennis Aguila, Elena Aguilar, Glenn Paul Armamento, Heidi Bacolor-Ragsac, Ma. Paz Besonya, Edwin Buffe, Russel Dalisay, Angela Kristine De Guino-Royandoyan, Shiela Dasco Del Rosario, Eric Anthony Dumpilo, Reigi Estillero, Gladys Follero-Moreno, Marcelino Gonzales II and Nerissa Guirao; and Alvin Landicho, Jennie Ann Lagronio, Jorge Manaois Jr., Enrico Mantuano II, Charlene Clara Mendoza, Ma. Cecilia Moldez, Perly Anne Pe, Divina Lea Pedriguerra, Jeicqpoi Politico, Maria Cristita Rivas-Santos, Jam Tristan Sulit, Rachelle Tandoc-Ricabierta, Sergio Duke Villar, and Crescencio Cortes Jr.

The JBC said the public may submit “a sworn complaint, report, or opposition against any of the aforesaid applicants”.

The JBC is constitutionally mandated to screen and vet nominees to the President for vacant posts in the judiciary and the Offices of the Ombudsman and Deputy Ombudsman.
