May slams Trump over recent Charlotesville comment
US President Donald Trump’s remarks had brought in another critic.
British Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday condemned Trump’s recent comments on the deadly encounter between white supremacists and counter-demonstrators in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“I think there is blame on both sides,” Trump said on Tuesday in a press conference in New York.
The UK leader opposed Trump’s statement, saying there was “no equivalence between those who profound fascist views and those who oppose them.”
Though May did not mention Trump’s name in her comments, she cited that “it is important for all those in positions of responsibility to condemn far-right views wherever we hear them.”
Senior politician and Scottish Conservatives leader Ruth Davidson also lambasted the US president.
In a tweet, Davidson said, “The President of the United States has just turned his face to the world to defend Nazis, fascists and racists. For shame.”
