Shoot CHR personnel if they obstruct justice, Duterte says
President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday went on a tirade against Commission on Human Rights (CHR), saying that security forces should shoot CHR personnel if found guilty of obstructing justice in an investigation he will order against the commission.
In response to Duterte’s threat, the CHR said that it “wishes to reiterate that it is merely doing its constitutional duty and it remains hopeful that the government will recognize that the guarantee of equal protection of the law as well as fair and impartial trial including investigation is a constitutional right available to every single Filipino.”
In his rant, Duterte also questioned the absence of CHR investigation in several deaths where, according to Duterte, human rights were violated.
