MANILA – As part of the memorandum of agreement between the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and China Radio International (CRI) signed last February, radio programs produced by CRI and hosted by Filipino anchors are now being aired on Radyo Pilipinas (RP1).

The two main points of the agreement were a visiting and staff exchange of PCOO journalists and partner agencies and CRI staff and employees, and program cooperation in the free use of copyrighted news articles and radio materials in both Filipino and English languages.

“This is only the beginning of a new age for the PCOO and to make the integrated services at par, if not better than private media and other news agencies in the world,” said PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar.

Since August, RP1 has been airing two CRI-produced programs.

The first, “Mga Pinoy sa Tsina”, features the struggles and successes of Filipinos living in China.

It airs every Saturday at 5 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. and is hosted by Machelle Ramos, a Filipino journalist formerly with PTV4. The Filipinos featured in the program are successful in business, education, media, health and other fields.

The second program, “Dito Lang Yan sa Tsina”, features events, historical places and inventions that originated and are uniquely China. It airs every Sunday at 5 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. and is hosted by Rhio Zablan, a Filipino journalist residing in China.

“These programs are part of our re-branding from Radyo ng Bayan. In the past, we only broadcasted music on weekends but since we re-launched as Radyo Pilipinas, these CRI programs have become part of our revitalized programming on weekends,” said Alan Allanigue, station manager of RP1.
