Sueno says President Duterte has full confidence in PNP
MANILA—Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno stressed President Rodrigo Duterte’s full confidence and trust still remains with Philippine National Police chief Ronald Dela Rosa, despite the death of Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo inside Camp Crame.
“The President has signified his trust and confidence in General Bato, bagama’t nakakahiya talaga ang nangyari, dahil doon daw pinatay, allegedly, sa loob ng Camp Crame yung Korean, talagang bumaba ang image ng ating PNP, ni General Bato,” Sueno said in a statement Monday.
The secretary earlier said that “heads will roll” as a result of the death of the Korean national “in the hands of rogue police officers.”
Sueno assured those who will be named as culprits, after the investigation, will be dealt with accordingly.
He also urged Dela Rosa to personally monitor the case for its immediate resolve.
“The speedy resolution of Mr. Jee’s case is the best justice that this country can give to his family and to the South Koreans right now,” the DILG chief said.
The Korean national was allegedly taken by police officers in Angeles, Pampanga, led by SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, under the pretense of “Oplan Tokhang” but was turned into a kidnapping.
“The DILG and the PNP will not tolerate any illegal activity within their power and jurisdiction, as they will never allow acts that will tarnish the image of the entire police institution, the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs, corruption and criminality,” he added.
