MANILA — “From this day on, ako na ang tatayong mommy niya,”

(Starting today, I will be his mother.)

This is what Ai ai delas Alas told told GMA-7’s news magazine program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” aired Sunday.

Delas Alas was referring to former child actor Jiro Manio who was found roaming at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 begging for food last week.

Through an Instagram post, the comedian asked anyone who could inform her about Manio’s whereabouts, expressing her interest to help the former actor.

Delas Alas together with “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” visited Manio at his home.

“Gusto ko muna siyang makita, kung ano yung reaction niya towards me. Kasi baka hindi na rin niya ako kilala.

Hindi natin alam, ‘di ba? I think kulang siya sa love kasi ‘yung mother niya, maaga ring nawala,” Ai Ai told “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.”

(I want to see him first, I want to know his reaction towards me. He might not know me anymore, we don’t know. I think she lacks the love of his mother who passed away.

Joylene Santos, Manio’s mother died when he was 15 years old.

“Hindi sila nagkasama, so naiintindihan mo sa’n ‘yung pinanggagalingan niya. Kung bakit siya nag-drugs, bakit ganun ‘yung pananaw niya sa buhay.”

(They have not been together that’s why I understand where he is coming from, why he did drugs and why he has those kind of outlook in life.)

After the meeting, Delas Alas said that she will continue helping Manio.

“Okay naman siya. Naiiyak lang ako kasi… sinabi ko sa kanya na anak ko siya and hindi ko siya puwedeng pabayaan,” she said.

(He’s okay. I just feel like crying because… I told him that he’s my son and I will always be there for him.)
