MANILA — Though he is still undecided whether he will run for a higher post in next year’s elections or not, Senator Chiz Escudero clarified that he will not be joining any political party.

Escudero, who is scheduled to meet with President Aquino, said that he will listen to Aquino’s advice but he will not join the ruling Liberal Party (LP).

He said that whatever Aquino will tell him during their meeting will play a big part on his decision whether to run for a higher post or not in next year’s polls.

This, according to Escudero, is because of his long-standing relationship with Aquino.

He also added that he has not received any invitation to join any party to run for president or vice president.

The senator has remained independent since he left the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in 2009.

Escudero, meanwhile, said that he is not closing doors from whatever help anyone or any party may offer him.

“In politics, whatever help comes along from anyone or any party is always a boost to anyone who intends to run for office,” Escudero said in Filipino.

“It is not for me to reject offers of assistance from anyone. It would be foolish for any potential candidate to reject the offers of help from anyone,” he added.
