CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY –The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) on Saturday assured that there will be no brownout throughout Mindanao during the scheduled fight of Pacquiao and Mayweather on Sunday.

Engr. Eugene Bicar, head of the NGCP’s Mindanao System Operations, said that the NGCP engineers would see to it that the power transmission lines are in top shape to avoid brown out during the Pacquiao-Mayweather fracas.

“Barring all unforeseen events, the people in Mindanao will be able to watch the live paper view of the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight,” Bicar said.

The STEAG coal-fired power plant has earlier reported that the scheduled maintenance of its power generating turbines had been completed.

The 210-megawatt STEAG coal-fired power plant supplies most of the electricity needs of Northern Mindanao and Central Mindanao power grids that the NGCP managed.

Bicar said that Mindanao expects to have ample power supply throughout the island starting June this year when most coal-fired power plants in Southern Mindanao become operational.
