VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur — Ilocanos all over the world need to vote for Vigan for it to join the ranks of the New Seven Wonder Cities (N7WC) of the world as the search has entered its last stretch before the judgment day on Dec. 8,

In support of the initiative, Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Luis Singson handed over Php1 million to the city government of Vigan so that it can further intensify its campaign to make Vigan barge into the N7WC list.

“The provincial government of Ilocos Sur is overwhelmingly supporting the quest of Vigan for the N7WC because this is not only an honor for Vigan and for the province but for all the Filipino around the world,” he said.

Aside from the local government units of Ilocos Sur, the LGUs in Ilocos Norte had also joined the all-out campaign for Vigan City in its quest to make it to the N7WC list.

Few days before the judgement time of the search at 2 a.m. on Dec. 8, Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina said that the city had received a national award as one of the five most walkable and bikeable cities in the Philippines.

The awarding rite was held in Malacañang on Nov. 27, 2014.

On the evening of Dec. 7, 2014, the city government of Vigan will lead a prayer vigil while waiting the result of the search in the early morning of Dec. 8.

Meanwhile, Vigan City tourism officer Edgar Dela Cruz disclosed that the city proper is now being continuously mobbed by foreign and local tourists few days before the judgment day of the N7WC.
