MANILA — Actor-director Ricky Davao will be starring in three entries for this year’s Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

Davao ended up in three entries including GB Sampedro’s “s6parados,” Michael Tuviera’s “The Janitor” and Milo Sogueco’s “Mariquina.”

Davao recalled his first win in the film fest, in a Philippine Daily Inquirer entertainment report.

“I had a cameo in the first Best Picture winner, Doy del Mundo’s ‘Pepot Artista’ in 2005,” he recalled.

He also appeared in various films including Arah Jell Badayos and Margaret Guzman’s “Mudraks” and Florida Bautista’s “Saan Nagtatago si Happiness?”

“I wasn’t busy at the time, so I accepted the part,” Davao said talking about his role in GB Sampedro’s “s6parados.”

Davao’s role portrayed him as the father of “Endo,” played by Jason Abalos. The movie however gives an incredible twist as they will be playing as lovers.

Davao said, he had kissed some of the hunkiest actors in the showbiz world adding that the roles allowed him to better direct GMA’s “Dading.”

“I am more sensitive, more careful about nuances. I have high respect for my actors. I have complete trust in them. It’s not often that you get to handle an ensemble that’s consistently, and uniformly, talented,” Davao said.
