Emperador completes buyout of Mexico’s brandy business for 80.9 M euros
MANILA— Listed liquor company Emperador Inc. has completed its acquisition of Domecq and Pedro Domecq brands from Pernod Ricard S.A. in Mexico for 80.9 million euros in a bid to expand its global footprint.
Emperador told the local bourse its subsidiary Bodegas Las Copas bought assets from Pernod, including the brands Presidente, Don Pedro and Azteca de Oro, as well as a winery in Baja California.
Bodegas Las Copas S.L. is a joint venture company of its subsidiary Grupo Emperador Spain and wine conglomerate Gonzales Byass.
The completion of the sale is subject to the authorization from the Mexican Antitrust Authority.
Emperador said the acquisition cost will be sourced through a combination of cash on hand and external financing.
The company said the transaction would enhance its equity interest in the joint venture.
