China’s Ministry of Commerce official leads mission to Manila

MANILA—Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) Deputy Director General Li Shaotong is leading a 10-man business delegation here to explore stronger partnership between China and the Philippines.

In a statement of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Thursday, the delegation is composed of representatives from MOFCOM, Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, and the China International Engineering Consulting Corporation (CIECC).

The delegation had meeting with DTI Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo and representatives from the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, First Philippine Industrial Park, and Pacific Coast Cities.

On Friday, DTI and MOFCOM will conduct Philippine-China Investment Forum in Makati City.

China International Contractors Association, Bank of China, China Railway Group Ltd., China Communications Construction Company Ltd., Philippine Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce, and Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc.

will present opportunities in both markets of the Philippines and China.

Since President Rodrigo Duterte made a state visit to China in October last year, the Chinese government has committed to enhance cooperation with the Philippines and further strengthen bilateral relations.

Prior to MOFCOM, China’s Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Transport, and the National Reform and Development Cooperation have conducted their missions to Manila.
