Jinkee Pacquiao saying goodbye to politics for good

MANILA — Sarangani Vice Governor Jinkee Pacquiao is retiring from politics after her term ends in 2016.

The wife of boxing champ and Congressman Manny Pacquiao said in an interview for Inquirer Mindanao that she will no longer be running for any position in next year’s election.

“I will no longer be seeking any political position in next year’s elections. I’d like to devote my time and energy to my family and our business.

Jinkee said that she wants to give way to others who aim for the position.

“My husband is the congressman of the province. To me, having one member of the family actively involved in politics is already enough. Let’s give others a chance.”

“My role was just to maintain the unity and stability of the party [People’s Champ Movement]. I’ve done my part so I’m leaving politics for good,” she added.

Jinkee also shared that during her term, she did not receive any salary as a government official.

“It goes to the solicitations flooding my office,” she added.

After her term ends, Jinkee said she wants to go full-time on her family specially her children, who transferred to General Santos City.

The couple decided to transfer their kids to study in the province from the prestigous Brent International School.

Their children Emmanuel Jimuel Jr. 14, Michael Stephen, 13, Mary Divine Grace, 8, at Queen Elizabeth, 6 are now enrolled in Hope Christian School.

Manny earlier said that he wants his children to experience living the kind of life he had as a poor child in General Santos.
