MANILA — After a meeting at Camp Aguinaldo on disaster preparedness, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas shared his message to Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘JunJun’ Binay Jr.

(You do not own Makati, Mayor Binay. Nobody rules except the law. The rule of the law will prevail and the DILG and PNP are just implementing it.)

Roxas even compared the ongoing situation at the Makati City Hall to a drama program or telenovela.

(I call upon Mayor Binay to step down. This is not a telenovela. This is not a drama about your family, about your rule in Makati. This is about the law. The law states that you are suspended by the Ombudsman.)

Roxas also mentioned that Mayor Binay is only special to his father, Vice President Jejomar ‘Jojo’ Binay, who is also in hot water due to the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall back when he was still Mayor of Makati.

(Mayor Binay is special to his father, but he is not special when it comes to the law. We shall implement the law.)

He also addressed the reported altercation between Vice President Binay, their supporters, and members of the National Capital Region Police. Roxas called upon the media to cooperate with the PNP and submit any evidence of the said confrontation.

(Each [media] network has a camera and the PNP is formally requesting to view your videos. We need to find out who grabbed whose collar, who punched anybody, who grabbed whose hand, and who shoved a policewoman…

All of this can be seen in the videos.
