President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is using his Singapore visit to court more foreign investment for the Philippines, highlighting economic reforms and the country’s role in the US led Pax Silica initiative.
Speaking before business leaders, Marcos promoted the Philippines as an emerging hub for advanced industries, particularly digital technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing.
A major part of his pitch is Pax Silica, a US led initiative focused on strengthening supply chains for critical technologies. The Philippines is planning a major industrial hub in New Clark City as part of the broader Luzon Economic Corridor, with the project envisioned to support advanced manufacturing and the technology sector.
Marcos also pointed to reforms intended to make the Philippines more attractive to international investors. These include measures involving foreign ownership, longer land lease terms, renewable energy investments and incentives for qualified businesses.
The President has also emphasized the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and create an environment where companies can establish long term operations in the country.
During his Singapore trip, Marcos is expected to meet with business executives and promote investment opportunities in sectors seen as critical to the Philippines’ future economic growth, including artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
The investment campaign comes as the Philippines seeks to position itself higher in global supply chains and attract industries linked to emerging technologies.
For the administration, Pax Silica and the Luzon Economic Corridor are part of a broader strategy to turn the Philippines into a destination for high value investments while creating jobs and expanding the country’s industrial capacity.
