DOST-SEI opens 2027 scholarship to Grade 12 students under strengthened SHS pilot

Grade 12 students enrolled in schools piloting the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum may now apply for the 2027 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship, giving more graduating learners a chance to compete for one of the country’s major science and technology scholarships.

The Department of Science and Technology–Science Education Institute clarified that all Grade 12 students under the strengthened SHS curriculum may apply, provided they meet the scholarship program’s other eligibility requirements.

For these students, Form E5 must be accomplished and uploaded together with the other required documents through the official DOST-SEI undergraduate scholarship application system.

Those who already completed or submitted their applications using Form E1 or Form E2 do not need to apply again. DOST-SEI said their previously submitted applications remain valid and will still be processed and evaluated.

Deadline is September 17

Applicants have until September 17, 2026, to complete their online applications and documentary requirements.

The nationwide qualifying examination is scheduled for November 14 and 15, 2026.

Students are encouraged to submit early and review all information and uploaded documents carefully before finalizing their applications.

Under the general eligibility rules, graduating Grade 12 students may apply if they meet the program requirements. 

STEM students are eligible to apply, while non-STEM applicants generally need to belong to the top five percent of their graduating class. Previous Grade 12 graduates who have not yet earned college or post-secondary units may also be eligible.

What does the scholarship cover?

The DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship supports qualified students who plan to pursue priority science and technology degree programs.

Existing scholarship benefits include financial support for tuition in eligible private institutions, monthly living and learning allowances, transportation assistance, insurance, thesis support and other academic benefits, depending on the scholarship category and applicable guidelines.

The program covers priority courses in fields including science, technology, engineering, agriculture, mathematics and other identified S&T disciplines.

Applicants should note that being eligible to apply does not automatically mean they will receive the scholarship. Students must still satisfy all documentary and eligibility requirements, take the qualifying examination and pass the DOST-SEI selection process.
