Saskatchewan immigration quota hits 55% with new capped sector rules

CANADA – Saskatchewan has issued 2,628 nominations for its Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) as of June 30, 2026, utilizing 55% of its total 4,761-space allocation for the year. With the 2026 quota matching the previous year’s total, 2,133 spots remain available for the rest of 2026.

The program has strategically divided these spaces:

• 50% are reserved for seven priority sectors, including a specific set-aside of 750 spots for Saskatchewan graduates in priority occupations.
• 25% are allocated to capped industries, specifically trucking, retail, and accommodation.

A mid-year review will assess whether the priority sector targets need adjustment based on application demand.

New restrictions are now in effect for employers in the capped sectors:

• Applications are only accepted during specific intake windows.
• Employers can only apply for workers who have six months or less remaining on their work permits.
• The accommodation and food services sectors have been split into two distinct categories for these applications.

In contrast, employers in priority and other unrestricted sectors may submit applications at any time. The province will host a webinar on July 2 to explain these new protocols before the next intake opens.

Upcoming intake windows for capped sectors are scheduled for:

• July 6, 2026
• July 7, 2026
• September 14, 2026
• November 2, 2026

Spaces in these limited categories are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
