PHILIPPINES – Senator Risa Hontiveros announced that she will seek the help of the German Embassy in the Philippines in order to pursue the participation of the Germany-based developer of GoreBox, Felix Filip, for the July 1 hearing of the Senate Committee on Women.
GoreBox is an online game that is allegedly linked with the school shooting in Tacloban. In its Google Play and Steam description, the game invites players to “step into a world where the Reality Crusher lets you spawn, manipulate, and obliterate anything you desire. Engage in brutal combat with an extensive arsenal of weapons and explosives, and witness the raw effects of realistic ragdoll physics and an intense gore system that brings dismemberment to life.”
In Felip’s statement, he also clarified that the game isn’t suited for minors and is marked as targeted towards 18+ players.
On June 26, 2026, Hontiveros took to social media to express her disappointment on the lack of participation from Filip. “Nakakadismaya na pinili ni Mr Filip na huwag dumalo sa darating na hearing namin lalo na’t marami sana akong gustong malaman mula sa kanya mismo.”
She added, “Any developer or online company that wants to operate here, profit from Filipino users, and reach Filipino children must respect our laws and our institutions. This should be the bare minimum for them to do business here. Kung ayaw nila kilalanin, mananagot rin sila.”
