MANILA — Ayala Corporation is interested in the proposed P15 billion project for the development of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

“We are interested in NAIA if it happens, but for now it is still up in the air,” said John Eric Francia, Ayala managing director.

To determine the scope and viability of the project as part of the public private partnership scheme (PPP), a feasibility study, which is still ongoing as of writing, was conducted.

The NAIA development project will be undertaken by both the Department of Tourism and Communications (DOTC) and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

The project will focus on the upgrade, enhancement and improvement of the operational facilities of all NAIA terminals.

It will include the coverage of landside and airside services but with the exclusion of air traffic services.

While Ayala has expressed interest in the said projects, it has, however, said that it is not interested in the ongoing bidding for the five regional airports.
