MANILA – Ninety-nine overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Lebanon and Kuwait safely arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Thursday via Qatar Airways Flight QR934.
In a social media post, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said the group is composed of 20 OFWs from war-torn Lebanon and 79 from Kuwait, including five dependents.
“Ang mga repatriated OFWs ay agad na sinalubong ng OWWA at binigyan ng agarang assistance tulad ng pagkain, transportasyon, at hotel accommodation kung kinakailangan. (The repatriated OFWs were immediately welcomed by the OWWA and given immediate assistance such as food, transportation, and hotel accommodation if needed,” the post reads.
OWWA promised to assist those who want to return home to their provinces.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Beirut has asked OFWs to consider leaving Lebanon amid the conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah.
“The embassy continues to extend its services and support, especially to OFWs in remote areas,” the embassy said.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) meanwhile urged OFWs, and even their families and relatives to contact the One Repatriation Command Center (ORCC) by calling the 1348 DMW-OWWA 24/7 Hotline, or send an email to repat@dmw.gov.ph for immediate help and assistance.
The DMW-ORCC Help Desk in Mandaluyong City is open from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
