MANILA – A ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ (MMK) special feature on the story of a Typhoon Yolanda survivor trends worldwide on Saturday.

The story featured an inmate who voluntarily returned to prison after helping his family during the onslaught of Super Typhoon “Yolanda.

Jomar Martinez, an inmate in Tacloban, left the jail to check on his family when the typhoon ravaged the city of Tacloban, November, last year.

Martinez helped his family rebuild their house and ensured that his family was settled in a safer place before surrendering to the police.

Martinez is temporarily out of jail to help his father work for their family.

The episode directed by Gary Fernando and written by Joan Habana and Arah Jell Badayos lands second in Twitter’s worldwide trends.
