DPWH projects to be put on hold says MMDA

MANILA – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that they will be implementing several changes in preparation for the holiday season.

MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino on Thursday said that a moratorium will be imposed on the ongoing projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) from the first week of December to the first week of January 2015. Currently, DPWH has around 100 ongoing projects.

The changes include suspension of road repairs, longer operating hours of river ferries, and changes on Christmas lanes.

“We will be asking this from them since some of the designated Christmas lanes have ongoing road repairs,” he said, referring to the alternative routes recommended for private motorists who wish to avoid congested major thoroughfares.

There will be 17 roads that will be utilized as Christmas lanes.

Tolentino also noted that the operating hours of the Pasig River ferry system will run from 6 a.
