MANILA — Moderate to heavy rain showers are expected as tropical depression “Henry” made landfall over Cayagan’s Fuga Island early Tuesday as it continues to move westward while maintaining its strength, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 8 a.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA also reported that a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted at 780 kms. east of Infanta, Quezon and the southwest monsoon affecting the western section of the country.

At 7 a.m., the center of “Henry” was last observed at 230 kms west of Calayan, Cagayan. It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 60kph and gusts of 75 kph. It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility Tuesday, July 17.

The southwest monsoon would dump rains over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro provinces, Palawan and Western Visayas.

Residents in these areas are advised to watch out for possible landslides or flooding. Sea travel is risky for small seacrafts over western seaboard of southern Luzon.

Tropical cyclone warning signal number 1 is hoisted over Babuyan Group of Islands and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte, while the TCWS has been lifted over the northern portions of Cagayan and Apayao.

The rest of the country would experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon and trough of the LPA.

Temperature in Metro Manila will range from 24-29 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-31 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 17-23 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 24-32 degrees Celsius.
