Former vocalist Unique Salonga has finally spoken up, three days after the news broke that he left the indie rock band IV of Spades.

In his first statement since his departure, Unique acknowledged that many of their fans were disappointed with him quitting the band.

“Maraming naghahanap ng sagot kung ano ba talaga ang dahilan at bakit pa ba raw ako umalis kung kailan naging matunog na ang pangalan namin (Many look for an answer on what could be the reason and why did I leave when the band is already making its own name),” Unique said in a tweet on Tuesday night, May 8.

The singer, however, did not disclose the reason behind his decision, saying that he would just let the curious ones  find out what exactly happened.

“Kaya sa mga naghihintay lang diyan at umaasa sa mga lantang balita na nanggagaling sa mga lantang utak, uulitin ko: Manigas kayo (That is why for those of you who keeps on waiting and hoping for withered news coming from withered brains, I repeat: You wish),” he stressed.

Some fans of IV of Spades have earlier speculated that Unique’s departure from the band has something to do with his health as he was hospitalized last month.

However, the former vocalist did not confirm this.

“Baka nagtataka kayo kasi puwede ko naman kayong diretsuhin. Baka sabihin niyo nagsusungit din ako kasi mayro’n akong pinagtatakpan. Totoo ho ‘yon, pero, wala pa rin naman kayong magagawa at wala kayong mapupulot sa post na ‘to kundi ang maraming maraming thank you (Some of you might wonder because I could have just said it directly. Maybe some of you will say I’m just snobbish because I’m hiding something. That is true, but, you still cannot do something about it and you cannot get anything from this post aside from lots of thank yous),” Unique said.

The singer then took this opportunity to express his gratitude to the supporters of IV of Spades, his bandmates’ parents, and of course, the remaining trio, Blaster Silonga, Badjao De Castro, and Zild Benitez.

“Thank you ulit (again). Magkita-kita na lang tayo sa panibagong episode ng buhay ko (Let’s see each other in the new episode of my life). God bless you all, mga (you) b,” Unique ended.

The indie rock band on Saturday said that Unique quit the band to “continue with his personal endeavors.

The trio, known for their hit, Mundo, “will continue to create and share more music and to play on our shows in the coming weeks.”

They are expected to attend MYX Music Awards 2018 next week, as the band is nominated in three categories: Group of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and MYX Bandarito Performance of the Year.
