CEU bludgeons AMA to stay on top

MANILA — CEU leaned on a second quarter barrage to smother AMA, 118-83, in the main game of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup twinbill on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Scorpions outscored the Titans, 42-17, in the second half to turn an exciting battle into a blowout.

“Masaya ako sa nilaro ng mga bata. Nung umpisa, medyo nag-adjust pa kami, pero nung nag-focus na kami to run, maganda na ang pinakita ng mga bata,” said Coach Yong Garcia.

Rod Ebondo made 27 points for CEU, which at 6-1 inched closer to an outright semifinal slot.

Robbie Manalang had 23 markers for AMA, which slipped to 1-6.
