Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas mark 25 years of togetherness
While January 23, 2018 is a regular day for most, it is a more-than-special kind of day for celebrity couple Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas as it marks their 25 years of togetherness.
At the age of 14, Gladys said yes to Christopher who was 12 then, on the set of the original Mara Clara series in 1993. Others may have judged it as puppy love at such a young age, but the couple who now has four children proved the world otherwise.
For eleven years in their boyfriend and girlfriend stage, they only broke up once which was on their eighth year. It took them two months to come back to each other’s arms.
“Hindi pala puro saya lang ang [buhay.] Kailangan mo talaga ng kasama eh (Life is not really just about fun. You really need someone to be with),” Christopher said in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) before.
For Christopher, Gladys is the woman who filled his life and he had to make sure to be his best self for her sake. The actor flew to Los Angeles, California in search of several jobs to save for a future he saw with Gladys. He returned on their 11th year, on his knee, with a boxed ring.
The rest was history – some would say, as they finally tied the knot on January 23, 2004.
If it was Gladys that filled Christopher’s life, for her he was her answered prayer. Gladys took into Instagram to tell the whole world how her heart wept in joy. She captioned in a post a APO Hiking Society song, “Panalangin ko sa habang buhay. Makapiling ka. Makasama ka. ‘Yan ang panalangin ko.”
In a Magandang Buhay guesting this January, Gladys revealed their plan of renewing their vows of their special day.
“’Yung sa akin kasi kasi, hindi sa ano pa man, [pero] gusto kasi naming maging bahagi nito ‘yung mga anak namin. ‘Yung idea lang na kasama na ‘yung mga anak (For me, not just for anything, but I want our children to be part of this. Simply the idea of being with our children),” the actress said.

For Gladys, it was already a special memory when she dragged her feet on a red carpet while in a white dress with her husband-to-be waiting for her at the end of the altar. However, like puzzle pieces completing their family portrait, the existence of their children that their love gave birth to would make the celebration more special.
