Jake Cuenca reveals courting Alessandra de Rossi

Fifteen years of friendship in an ‘open book’ world like showbiz will always attract rumors and hearsays of a ‘beyond friendship’ kind of relationship between two stars. For Jake Cuenca and Alessandra “Alex” de Rossi, it looks like the rumors are actually true.

In a Magandang Buhay guesting on Tuesday, Jake confessed that he did try to pursue Alessandra.

“Aaminin ko noong first year ko sa showbiz… kakapasok ko lang ng show na ‘yon at kinapalan ko ang mukha ko na liligawan ko si Alessandra de Rossi (I admit during my first year in showbiz…I just entered the show that time when I decided to be brave and court Alessandra de Rossi),” the actor said.

Alessandra who was laughing beside him, said in jest, “However, tatlo kaming nililigawan. Tatlo ‘yon (three of us were being courted. There were three).”

On a serious note though, Alessandra said that it was more of a personal preference. “Ako talaga may issue ako sa younger [guys], kahit nga one year younger, kahit months lang younger sa akin talagang hindi ko type (I really have an issue with younger guys, even those one year younger, or younger than me just by months, they are not really my type),” she revealed.

“Magkapatid kami nito (We are really like siblings),” she said, then added, “Alam mo si  (You know), Jake parang anak ko na ito (is like my son). As in baby brother talaga ang tingin ko sa kanya (I really treat him as my baby brother).”

Looking back to their memories, they shared one that will forever be etched in their years of friendship.

“Tumawag ako sabi ko, ‘Alex, may kasamang babae ‘yung boyfriend mo.’ Sabi niya, ‘Sinong babae ‘yan?’ [Sabi ko,] ‘yung girlfriend ko. At ginamit pa ‘yung kotse mo para sunduin ‘yung girlfriend ko (I called her, I said, ‘Alex, your boyfriend is with another woman.’ She said, ‘Who is that woman?’ I said, ‘My girlfriend. And he even used your car to fetch my girlfriend),’” Jake narrated.

While they are now just laughing at that whole tangled relationship, Jake said that 33-year-old actress is his best friend and he knew it was the right thing to do.

Rumors of the Jake wooing Alessandra have been surfacing nine years ago, when the teleserye “Tayong Dalawa” starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson was still airing as they are part of the cast. In an article by ABS-CBN News in 2009, Alessandra has denied the rumors insisting that Jake was her baby brother even when they were still in the other network.

The two also worked in the teleserye “Green Rose” in 2011 starring Jericho Rosales and Anne Curtis.
