Former Alberta prison worker charged with helping inmate escape in 2015
BOWDEN, Alta. — A former prison worker has been charged with helping an inmate escape.
Innisfail RCMP say Sylvain Martin escaped from the minimum security annex of Bowden Institution on April 16, 2015.
Martin was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant in Quebec and returned to the custody of Correctional Service Canada in the fall of 2015.
Mounties allege a prison employee developed an inappropriate financial relationship with Martin.
Peter Edgar, who is 61, has been charged with permitting or assisting escape.
He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer court on Oct. 25.
