The Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested the driver as a response to Urro’s petitions.

CIDG mentioned on its Facebook page that the Napolcom employee worked as Urro’s driver and that they now have the CCTV footage as evidence against the suspect.

Poe appeals for bank’s help

Last March, Senator Grace Poe already made an appeal for banks to help protect their clients against ATM fraud.

This was after she earlier called on representatives from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and from commercial banks for a Senate committee hearing on ATM fraud.

In an interview for radio dzBB Poe explained that ATM fraud and other related problems could affect most of the country’s 40 million bank depositors adding that the number of ATM fraud criminals may grow as the economy grows.

As a solution to the problem, Poe suggests that banks move from the magnetic strip already used in ATM cards today to computer chip technology which according to her is not easier to tamper with.

Poe also called on the police department’s Anti-Cybercrime Group to help combat the existing ATM fraud cases.
